AUGUST 2010
Our best wishes to all for a refreshing summer!
We would like to express our sincere appreciation to all our clients. It is our hope that we have become an important part of your life, in keeping you healthy and happy.
What are ESSENTIAL OILS?
Essential oils are natural are natural concentrated essences derived from plants, bark, roots, seeds, stems, flowers, leaves, fruits, etc. and are usually steamed distilled. They may be mixed with massage oils, burned in aroma lamps, mixed with water for foot soaking or used in many other ways.
It is usually best not to put essential oils directly on the skin because they are so concentrated. They should be mixed with carrier oils when applied to the skin.
We now carry a line of Essential Oils. Check them out when you come to the studio.
Lavender is the most popular and most versatile oil. It has a calming, soothing effect. Lavender essential oil may also be used for acne, anxiety, bronchitis, burns, circulatory problems, colds, dandruff (with a little with your shampoo), headaches, insect bites, insomnia (put a few drops on your pillow case), muscle aches, and much more.
Peppermint refreshes the spirit. It is used for asthma, headaches, indigestion, migraines, muscle and joint pains, nausea, sinusitis, sore feet, and much more.
More on Essential Oils next month....

RELAXATION TIPS!
Tips for a Better Night's Sleep
- Have a glass of warm milk with a little Amaretto liquer, almond or vanilla extract.
- Eliminate strong odors before going to sleep. Sleeping with an open window can help diffuse odors.
- A few drops of Lavender essential oil on your pillow can help promote sleep.
- Avoid snacks with additives or artificial sweeteners before bedtime.
- If you are drinking alcohol in the evening, be sure to wait at least one hour before going to bed, and drink some water before retiring.
- Try not to set your alarm for before 6 a.m. If you must get up early, try going to bed early.
- If you don't get enough sleep at night, take a 15 to 30 minute nap during the nap. Longer than 30 minutes will make you feel groggy rather than refreshed.
